Salted caramel chocolate protein shake

Hello hello and happy Monday! I just got back from a lovely little post-dinner walk around the neighborhood. I had to wear a sweatshirt. Booyah. I also managed to get in a full body strength workout right after work today. Double score.

I have a quick little shake recipe for you today. It’s based on my absolute favorite obsession at the moment: salted caramel chocolate. Swoon. I decided to combine all of the ingredients up for a raw breakfast shake. I think we all know by now that I will do anything to eat chocolate for breakfast.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Protein Shake

  • 1-1.5 cups almond milk
  • 3 dates, divided
  • Scoop of protein powder
  • 1 tbsp. raw cacao (or cocoa) powder
  • 1.5 frozen bananas
  • Pinch sea salt

Soak two dates in almond milk for about 5 minutes, to soften. Combine all ingredients (except 1 date) in a blender and process. Chop remaining date and stir into shake.

Sounds indulgent but it’s quite good for you. It would make a great post-workout shake as there is protein, complex carbohydrates and a bit of salt to help replenish the body.

For maximum enjoyment, serve with a side of adorable kitty feet.
